The Lotus Sutra chant book printing project

Namo Buddhaya!

This year we are excited to finally have our newest chant book completed and ready to print! Since 2007, the temple’s chant book has grown from a 10-page chant booklet, to larger editions with a few more services and ceremonies like the Repentance Ceremony and the Transmission of the Three Refuges and Five Precepts, and has grown again to our current chant book we have today.

The temple’s tradition, Tiantai, holds the Lotus Sutra as the main and most important Mahayana Sutra and it is our main sutra for chanting. However, the Lotus Sutra is also a large sutra, having 28 chapters, has been much too long to chant for our Sunday English services, and has only been chanted for the Vietnamese services and in afternoon chanting for the monastics.

Now, with the help of the monastics, we have created a sort of “cliffs notes” version of the entire Lotus Sutra and separated the 28 chapters into eight sections so that one section could be chanted each week.

With your generosity, we would like to offer the community the opportunity to help with this newest printing project of the Lotus Sutra so that the Sangha can finally begin to chant this beautiful and wonderful sutra for the benefit of all sentient beings. Please use the PayPal button below to make a donation toward our printing costs.

in mid-February, we will also be publishing links to order your own Lotus Sutra chant book! There will be four printing options available: coil-bound, hardcover, softcover, and digital.
