Please join us for this very special and auspicious occasion as we Tonsure one of the temple’s senior members in preparation for their Novice Ordination Ceremony. Quang Trí (Joey) has made the decision and commitment to ordain as a monk. Monastic ordination is an extremely happy and auspicious time and we want to welcome and congratulate Quang Trí into the monastic family and community.
The Tonsure ceremony is one of the first steps before an official ordination ceremony. The Tonsure ceremony is the ceremony of shaving the head; the last step in “leaving the home life” and entering the simple life of a monastic. The ceremony will take place in the Main Shrine Hall where the Abbot, Venerable Bhikshu Thích Phước Quang, and the Most Venerable Bhikshuni Thích Nữ Quang Thông, will bless and chant for the Tonsure ceremony.
After the ceremony, members and guests will have a chance to congratulate and bow to the newly tonsured monastic before entering the dinning hall to enjoy a vegetarian lunch together.
