Day of Mindful Working – Project: Walking Meditation Path Please join us for our Day of Mindful Working (volunteer day) on Saturday, September 18 at 9am.

This will be the first of two Days of Mindful Working for the remainder of the year to start and complete the temple’s latest project, the walking meditation path. The Walking Meditation Path will be adjacent the Sleeping Buddha statue located in the garden. The Path will be a 200-foot path ideally suited for walking meditation. It will also have sitting areas for sitting meditation and resting.

During this first Day of Mindful Working, it will be dedicated to excavating, removing small trees, and leveling out the ground in preparation for the Walking Path. During the second Day of Mindful Working in November, it will be dedicated to installing all decorative fixtures, statues, landscaping, etc.

We hope to complete this path by the beginning of December, in time for our One-Day Meditation Retreat scheduled for December 11. Please join us for this exciting day! All are welcome and you are welcome to bring as many friends and family as well! As always, we will have refreshments available and pizza for lunch. We will be in a mostly shaded area, but please wear sunscreen and bug spray.

—– From our Walking Meditation Path announcement——

Dear beloved Sangha and friends,

This year we are delighted to announce our newest Temple project – the Walking Meditation Path! The Walking Meditation Path will be adjacent the Sleeping Buddha statue in the garden. This spot fits perfectly for walking meditation as the ground will be even, long, and shaded by the many beautiful oak trees. It will be a 200-foot long path suitable for a relaxing and concentrated meditation. Along the path will be sitting areas, statues, and special mantras to help aid in your meditation.

The temple will host two Days of Mindful Working volunteer events in September and November to excavate and prepare the area for the path. The first event in September will be dedicated specifically for the removal of small trees, bushes, and leveling out the area. The second event in November will be dedicated to installing the benches, rocks, statues, signs, and landscaping.

This Walking Meditation Path will be dedicated to the community. For without the community, both buddhists and non-buddhists, members and non-members, we would not have the opportunity to help enrich people’s lives with the Dharma. For this Meditation Path to be as beautiful as we aspire it to be, we ask for your kindest generosity to sponsor some of the materials needed to create this beautiful path.

To show thanks for your generosity and sponsorship, we will be placing plaques and signs on the large items in the path like the benches, statues, and large decorative items. We will also be creating a special sign thanking all our sponsors and donors for their generosity and help.

Below are some of the items that will be placed in and around the Walking Meditation Path, whether it’s a bench or a group of flowers, plaques and signs will be placed showing your name to thank you as the donor (if you wish it to be displayed). You can donate multiple quantities if you wish. During checkout, please note the name you would like displayed as the donor. If you wish to be anonymous, please state so. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR THE WALKING MEDITATION PATH DONATION!
